About College

GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) is a private medical college in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 2015 as a constituent college of GITAM University, a deemed-to-be university recognized by NAAC with an A+ grade. 

GIMSR offers undergraduate courses in MBBS and B.Sc. in four specializations: Anesthesia Technology, Radiology & Imaging Technology, Renal Dialysis Technology, and Optometry. The college has a 900-bed hospital with modern facilities and equipment. The founder of GITAM University and GIMSR was the late Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthi, a philanthropist and visionary who believed in the power of education to transform lives3. The current dean of GIMSR is Dr. S. Babu Lal, a senior professor and former head of the general surgery department at Andhra Medical College.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.
