Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College and Hospital was founded in 1995 under the supervision of the Tairunnessa Memorial Medical Center. It was established by M. Shamsul Hoque and named after his late mother, Tairunnessa, a social reformer. The college offers a five-year program leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. All graduates are required to complete a one-year internship after graduation, and the degree is accepted by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.

The college is located 9 km from Shahjalal International Airport in Konia, Gazipur City, next to Boardbazar. It is situated along the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, just outside the capital Dhaka.
MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

Campus: The spacious campus is elegantly furnished and adequately outfitted to include lecture halls, seminars, a dissection room, labs, a museum, a library, student social areas, and a snack bar.
Labs: Everyone is given access to the instruments, supplies, chemicals, glassware, microscopes, histology slides, etc. needed for training in various labs.
Library: Students will have access to the hospital building’s TMMC library, which has an initial collection of 4500 volumes and monographs as well as a subscription to several medical periodicals.
Clinical rotations: Students receive bedside teaching and practical experience in the college’s teaching hospital. Future doctors are given exposure to clinical rotations for patient care.
Hospitals: The college’s teaching hospital is TMMC Hospital. The multipurpose hospital complex at Konia, Gazipur, has 500 beds. It has already established a reputation as a center of excellence for medical services and research on a national and worldwide scale.
Hostels: It has separate hostels for boys and girls. Hostels are well-equipped with mattresses, tables, chairs, fans, air conditioners, closets, etc., as well as a supply of cold and hot water.
Food: The students are provided with a mess offering quality meals. The college canteen also serves Indian cuisine to students.
Transportation: The students get the transportation facilities to move around the college campus and to the nearby place.
