Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR) is a private medical college established in 1962 by the founders of Jamia Hamdard. It is located in Hamdard Nagar, Delhi and is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with grade of A. It has been ranked 22nd best in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020.

The founder of Jamia Hamdard and HIMSR was Hakeem Abdul Hameed, a renowned physician and philanthropist. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1965 and the Padma Bhushan in 1991 for his contributions to education and healthcare. The current dean of HIMSR is Prof. Mridu Dudeja, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology. The institute offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in the medical field.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

1. Campus

• Separate buildings for classrooms, laboratories, library, hostels, administrative offices and faculty rooms.

4. Clinical rotations

• Clinical rotations allow students to gain practical experience in various medical specialties.
• Students may rotate through departments such as surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, etc.
• During rotations, students may observe procedures, participate in patient care, and attend lectures and conferences.

5. Hospitals

• The institute is supported by HAHC Hospital, which provides tertiary-level medical care with over 740 beds.

6. Hostels

• Separate hostels are available for male and female students.
• Furnished and well-ventilated rooms are provided to students.

7. Food

• The institute has a mess facility for the hostel students that provides vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
