About College

Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital (BMCH) is a private medical college in Chitradurga, Karnataka, India. In 2001 it was made to reach the backward areas. But, now, it is a fully functional college with the necessary physical and human infrastructure.

The institution is certified by the NMC. It is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). BMCH provides undergraduate (MBBS) and graduate (MD, MS) programs in various fields. Not only in Karnataka but also in other regions of India, it is well-known for its social, economic, and educational activities.

Establishment and Information on the Founder and Dean of the College

Sri Jagadguru Murugharajendra Vidyapeetha (SJM Vidyapeetha) founded it in 2001. He is the 21st Jagadguru of the Shri Kshetra Sringeri Sharada Peetham, who founded the SJM Vidyapeetha [trust] in 1962. 

BMCI is a private medical college managed by this trust. The charitable organization is well-known for its social, economic, and educational activities in Karnataka and throughout India.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.
