About College 

Amrita School of Medicine is one of the constituent schools of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a private deemed university based in Coimbatore, India. The school was established in 2002 at the Kochi campus of the university. It is also the headquarters of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS), a 1300-bed multispecialty hospital that provides world-class clinical care and medical education. The founder and chancellor of the university is Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, also known as Amma, a world-renowned humanitarian leader, and spiritual teacher who has inspired millions of people with her message of love and service. The founder dean of the school is Dr. Damodaran Vasudevan, a distinguished biochemist and cancer researcher who has received several awards and honors for his contributions to medical science. He is the school’s associate dean of PG programs and research. The school offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and fellowship programs in various disciplines of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health sciences. The school aims to provide education for life and compassion-driven research for the benefit of humanity.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

  • Hostels have facilities like water coolers, Wi-Fi, indoor and outdoor sports, medical facilities, etc.
  • Hostel fee for MBBS students: Rs 68000 for Indian students, $1250 for NRI students. Hostel fee for DM/M.CH students: Rs 60000.
  • The Council of Wardens and Hostel Committee manages hostels.

  • Amrita School of Medicine offers scholarships for GATE-qualified candidates as per AICTE norms, which provides a monthly Post Graduate Scholarship of Rs. 12,400/-.
  • Non-GATE students can also receive scholarships based on merit and performance in the admission interview, including Endowment Scholarships and Merit Scholarships up to Rs. 1 Lakh.
  • International students can apply for Amrita Chancellor Scholarship and Amrita Meritorious Scholarship, offering 100%, 75%, or 50% tuition fee waivers based on their marks and admission interview performance.
