Amrita School of Medicine is one of the constituent schools of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a private deemed university based in Coimbatore, India. The school was established in 2002 at the Kochi campus of the university. It is also the headquarters of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS), a 1300-bed multispecialty hospital that provides world-class clinical care and medical education. The founder and chancellor of the university is Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, also known as Amma, a world-renowned humanitarian leader, and spiritual teacher who has inspired millions of people with her message of love and service. The founder dean of the school is Dr. Damodaran Vasudevan, a distinguished biochemist and cancer researcher who has received several awards and honors for his contributions to medical science. He is the school’s associate dean of PG programs and research. The school offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and fellowship programs in various disciplines of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health sciences. MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology.
