Bangladesh Medical College was founded in 1986 and is situated in Dhanmondi,
Dhaka. The college, affiliated with the University of Dhaka, offers a five-year MBBS
program that adheres to the 2012 curriculum developed by the Bangladesh Medical and
Dental Council (BM&DC). Classes at the college are held from 7.30 AM to 2.30 PM,
with a break between 10.30 AM and 11.00 AM, and the academic year begins in
January. Additionally, clinical students take two hours of evening classes at the hospital.
Since May 1988, Bangladesh Medical College has been a constituent college of the
University of Dhaka and has been accredited by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental
Council since 1986. The World Health Organization’s World Directory of Medical
Schools also includes the college, giving graduates access to recognition on a global
scale. Graduates can take the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE)
and are qualified for limited registration with the General Medical Council of the United
Kingdom.
