Mallasamudra, Mulgund Road, Gadag is home to the Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences. The Medical Council of India has approved it, and it has ties to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The school offers both undergraduate and graduate levels of medical and surgical education.

History: In 2014, the university first opened its doors. The state government of Karnataka established it so that residents of Gadag and the surrounding region would have access to high-caliber medical training and treatment.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

Infrastructure and Facilities:

Campus: The 54-acre facility is fully equipped with Laboratories, Examination Hall, Museums, Auditorium, Central Library, Lecture Halls, Staff, and the Teaching Faculty. A Gymnasium is being constructed on the premises.

Lab: The college has a key laboratory where all the students do their core research.

Library: The Central Library aims to effectively serve the varied needs of its readers. A reading room is available in the Central Library, which is open for 24 hours.

Hostels: Fully equipped separate hostels for boys and girls are available. Amenities include semi-furnished rooms with adequate ventilation and light, a well-maintained and hygienic kitchen, 24×7 hot water supply, and more.

Food: Students eat in a clean, pleasant kitchen.

Transportation: Easy transportation of different vehicles is accessible from the college campus.

Advantages:

• The director of the college is young and dynamic and values student feedback.
• Even though the college opened seven years ago, they already have more postgraduate (pg) seats and fellowship course offerings than any other institution in Belgavi.
• Most institutions in the area, including Gulbarga, Karwar, Bidar, Chamrajnagar, and Kodagu, still need ECFMG certification, but this college got it just recently.
• When compared to other states in India, Karnataka offers interns the highest pay.

Disadvantages:

There is much scrutiny throughout the application process to get into the Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences. Due to the vast number of applicants, only the most promising candidates ever manage to secure admission.
