The Government Medical College Kadapa, popularly known as the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Kadapa, is a renowned medical institution in Andhra Pradesh, India. Its establishment dates back to 2006, and since then, it has been diligently imparting medical education and delivering vital healthcare services to the community. Nestled in Putlampalli, a town within the Kadapa district, this government college was meticulously constructed over 14 months, covering an extensive area of 210 acres. Initially functioning as a district hospital or a secondary care facility, Rims General Hospital gradually evolved into a tertiary care institution, now recognized as the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences. Throughout its transformative journey, the hospital remained within its initial campus during ongoing RIMS training phases before eventually relocating to its present location. Dr. K. V. Ramanaiah, a renowned medical expert, will be the recognized dean of the institution as of 2021.
MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. Placements: 175 MBBS seats are available, faculty is good, hostel facilities and library facilities are available, infrastructure is average, and the environment is friendly with friendly faculty and good support from seniors. Nearly INR 25k is offered for an internship for one year after four years of college fees. The average hostel fee is INR 20k, and INR 20k goes into the mess fees.
Placements: 50 percent of students got PG seats. 50000 is the highest package we get. The least is 25000. One hundred percent of students got internships from my college. MBBS BDS nursing is the course offered by our college. It has a district hospital. The hospital outflow is good.
Infrastructure: All department labs are available. The classrooms are attractive and clean. The library is open. The hostels need to be better and not hygienic.
Faculty: Teachers are excellent and strict. The teaching quality is good. Yes. Exams are tough. The lab technicians could be better. But the teaching staff are amazing. They help to their maximum. They teach very nicely. The exams are very tough.
Infrastructure – A library, mess, labs, and a digital library are available. Every department has separate lecture galleries; AC is available in labs only and hostels, including quantity.
