About College

The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, is a prominent medical school. It is one of the nation’s oldest medical schools connected to Banaras Hindu University (BHU). In 1960, the BHU Institute of Medical Sciences was founded. It was earlier called the Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University but was later renamed the College of Medical Sciences by that institution.

Dr K.N. Udupa, a doctor and pioneer in medical education, founded the Institute of Medical Sciences. He was a crucial figure in the foundation and growth of the institute. Prof. Ashok Kumar is currently serving as dean of the Institute of Medical Sciences. The Institute of Medical Sciences at BHU has developed over time into a respected organization renowned for its high standards in healthcare, medical research, and education. It provides a range of medical and related undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.
