About College

The KLE Society founded the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) in Belgaum in 1963 due to the acute lack of medical facilities in the area. The JNMC is still a testament to the KLE Society’s high standards for professionalism.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Belgaum was founded with the aim of offering an institution that will provide amazing medical knowledge, research facilities and healthcare services. Prof. Rakesh Bhargava is the current dean of the college. 

For achieving this goal, the medical college will provide amazing infrastructure with education in different areas of health sciences. It will offer people and families comprehensive, culturally aware, and community-focused healthcare.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

Infrastructure and Facilities

1. Campus: The campus is spread over 100 acres. It has the best infrastructure facilities available for the students on this sprawling campus.
2. Lab: Clinical laboratories are there in the medical college that are present for the students to get hands-on training.
3. Library: A large selection of reference books, periodicals, and a cutting-edge digital library with access to a wealth of e-learning materials are all maintained in the college’s central library.
4. Hospitals: The campus has the 1400-bed KLE Dr. Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital. The hospital is renowned for providing free health care services to poor people. 
5. Hostels: Over 2000 boys and girls can stay in separate hostel facilities offered by the college for both genders
6. Food: The cafeteria is hygienic, clean, spacious, and well-maintained
7. Transportation: It is well connected via roads, railways, and airports. The Belgaum railway station is 5km away from the college while the college is located within the city limit of 5 km.

Scholarships

The medical college does not provide any scholarships for the students. Students under state quota however can study with low fees at this college.
