Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) was founded in 1814 by Emperor Alexander I as the second university institution in Kazan and the third medical university institution in Russia. Today, it is a federal university with nine faculties and 60 departments, offering programs in general medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and other specialties. The university has a staff of more than 1,500 people, including 700 academic staff. The current chancellor of KSMU is Aleksey Sozinov, who is also the dean of the faculty of general medicine.

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology.
