About College:

The Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) is a government-funded medical school in the Indian city of Mandya in the state of Karnataka. The university began offering students MBBS and MD/MS programs in 2006. The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences has recognized the college, and the Medical Council of India (MCI) has given its blessing. The university’s medical center can accommodate 550 patients. The 25-acre site is home to both male and female student dormitories, teacher housing, and various paramedical programs open to students with a PUC or SSLC diploma. 

The institution opened its doors in 2005, and since then, it has produced competent doctors. On India’s National Highway in Mandya, Karnataka is the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences. The Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences first opened its doors in 2005. Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences’ founder and current dean, Dr. Shivakumar C.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

Campus:

Lab:

A COVID-19 lab on campus became famous for helping pregnant women infected with the coronavirus give birth to healthy children. 

Library:

There are about nine thousand books available for checkout, as well as ninety magazines, three hundred back issues, six hundred and twenty-two compact discs, access to Helinet and electronic resources (including two hundred and fifty electronic journals and books), one hundred publications from the World Health Organization library, thirty in the Kannada language, and thirty in general.

Clinical Rotations:

Its associated hospital, Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, is where students may participate in clinical rotations.

The hospital at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences can accommodate 550 patients. Students may participate in clinical rotations there since it is the college’s linked hospital. 

Hostels:

Hostels are available for both male and female students at this university. The hostels provide all the conveniences of home and more.

On-campus students may have South Indian cuisine in the cafeteria.

Transportation:

Mandya City is a convenient midpoint between Mysore (60 km) and Bangalore (100 km).

Scholarship:

No financial aid or loans are available from the university. However, the college will let us apply for and use government scholarships if we qualify. Students may apply for a wide variety of scholarships, including the M.H.R.D. Scholarship and the Vidyasiri Scholarship.

It was a mixed bag for me at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences. This school would do great things for my kid’s future. The teachers are dedicated professionals who care deeply about teaching students their expertise. However, I found the institute’s infrastructure wanting. Overcrowding in the classrooms makes it difficult for children to pay attention. Furthermore, the library’s inadequate resources make it difficult to conduct in-depth studies.
