Tambov is a city situated along the Tsna River in central Russia and serves as the administrative center of the Tambov region. The city’s history is closely linked with the names of notable individuals whose views influenced the development of Russia.
Established in 1936 as the Tambov State Medical Institute, the institution underwent several name changes and organizational restructurings. In 2002, it was renamed the Medical Institute of Tambov State University to reflect its relationship with Tambov State University. The G. R. Derzhavin State University was formed by merging the Tambov State Pedagogical Institute and the Tambov State Institute of Culture, named after the Russian poet statesman Gavrila Romanovich Derzhavin.
Over time, the institute has developed into one of Russia’s top medical schools with a solid reputation for clinical practice, education, and research. The creation of TSU was authorized by the Russian Federation’s President through a decree on December 29, 1994, with Professor V.M. Zubets named as the university’s rector and Professor V.N. Okatov, the TSIC rector, as the first vice-rector of TSU. On March 6, 1995, the university was given the G.R. Derzhavin moniker.
MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology.
