About College

NRI Academy of medical sciences is a first-of-its-kind medical college started by a consortium of 32 NRI doctors from the USA who were all born and brought up in the districts of Guntur Andhra Pradesh. The medical college is situated in the municipal corporation of Chinna Kakani.

The medical college commenced its first academic session in the year 2003-04 with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family.  

Dr. N Lakshmi is currently serving as the principal of NRI medical college working towards furthering the objectives of the institution and developing academic and administrative facilities.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

Students of 1st-year and 2nd-year MBBS courses can apply for the senior – 1 test and students of 3rd and 4th-year MBBS courses can apply for the senior – 2 test to avail scholarships ranging from 20,000 INR to 60,000 INR per year.

Reviews

Most of the students from our course got placed. About 80% of the students get good PG admissions. Roles are offered to students according to their capabilities. Internships are offered to all the students who pass in their final examinations. Teachers here are well qualified and supportive in all kinds of educational activities. Our college provides huge classrooms. The library is well-built without any disturbances. The quality of the food served in the hostel mess is average. A canteen is available, and it is somewhat better than the hostel mess. Teachers in our college help clear our doubts. The college exams are quite tough under strict invigilation. From our batch, the course is new. It is called competency-based medical education.
