History: The Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad has a long and famous history. It was founded in 1846, making it one of India’s oldest medical institutions. The institution was established during the time of the Nizams, the rulers of Hyderabad’s princely state. Originally known as the Hyderabad Medical School, it went through multiple name changes until becoming Osmania Medical College. Founder and Dean: Osmania Medical College was founded by the 5th Nizam of Hyderabad and Berar, Afzal ud Dowla, Asaf Jah V. It is an expansion of the ancient medical college in Hyderabad, which was founded in the mid-nineteenth century. The college is now led by Dr. P. Sashikala Reddy, who also serves as the Dean. MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology.
