About College

Sri Siddhartha Medical College Tumkur was established in 1988 with the approval of the Medical Council of India. Later, in 2008 it become part of the Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education. The Academy is Deemed University under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The college provides different programs for undergraduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D.

The Sri Siddhartha Medical College is situated just 76 km away from Bengaluru on Bengaluru-Honnavar National Highway. It is spread across 250 acres of green-lush campus with all modern and latest amenities. The spacious and peaceful environment provides a pleasant atmosphere for the students. The campus house a 970 bedded Hospital with minor and major operation theatre that caters to Tumkur and people from nearby areas. 

Late Shri H.M. Gangadharia, a passionate educator, with a dream to bring awareness and spread knowledge, sowed the seed in 1959 by forming the Sri Siddhartha Education Society. Later his son Late Dr. G. Shivaprasad, who was a renowned ophthalmologist, continued the work and established Sri Siddhartha Medical College. He was the founder chancellor, and currently, Dr. G. Parameshwara is the acting Chairman.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.
