About College

SVIMS – Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women is a government medical college in Tirupati exclusively for female students. Founded in 2014, it is affiliated with Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) University, a deemed university recognized by the UGC and NMC. The college sits on a 50-acre campus on Alipiri Road near Tirupati Regional Science Centre. It provides the MBBS program with an annual intake of 150 students.  

Dr. B. Vengamma, a renowned neurologist with several awards, founded SVIMS and also serves as the dean of Sri Padmavathi Medical College. The college aims to provide quality medical education to female students. It utilizes the facilities at the attached Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences hospital for clinical training of students.

MBBS Course

MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology. The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

1. Campus

• The campus is at Alipiri Road, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Scholarships 

Several scholarships are available to SVIMS students – Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women, Alipiri Road, Tirupati. These scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, financial need, or a combination.

• Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students: This scholarship is for students who have scored above 80% in class 12 and are pursuing regular college or university-level courses. It provides INR 10,000 for graduation and INR 20,000 per year for post-graduation. 
• Dr. NTR-SVIMS Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students who have scored a minimum of 90% in their 10th and 12th board exams and come from families with an annual income of less than Rs. 2 lakhs.
• Dr. CNR Rao-SVIMS Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to students who have scored a minimum of 95% in their 10th and 12th board exams and come from families with an annual income of less than Rs. 1 lakh.
• SC/ST scholarships: Students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories may be eligible for various government scholarships based on academic performance and family income.
